I have been having difficulties seeing the instructions on how to get the blog up and running. I was finally able to get in contact with technical support, and they helped me out with the problem. So now my blog is up. My profile on the bottom of my blog is set up from my personal blog, and I don't know how to change it, so you can just ignore that :)
I start my field experience this week. Since I have not yet started, I'm going to blog about my experiences with children, as well as experiences in the classrooms.
I do not have any children of my own yet. I do have a love for children though, so I thought a teacher would be a great job! I have several neices and a nephew, who I have cared for alot, and have spent alot of time with them. I also had many babysitting jobs growing up, and I have been a nanny for two different families. It's so fun to be a part of kids lives, and it feels good when you know you are making a difference in them.
I have also had several classroom experiences with children. When I was in highschool, I took a job release class, and I would go to an elementary school. I worked with kindergartners and loved it! They are such a fun age. Also while in highschool, I was employed at a preschool. I really enjoyed working with preschool aged children, but they were very tough! They have such a short attention span, and would rather play then learn. Once I graduated, I moved to Provo and attended UVU at the orem campus. While going to school, I got a job at an elementary school as a teachers aid. I LOVED it. I worked with a second grade class, and I really got to know and came to love all the students. There were many times in this job where I was left alone to teach the students, or where I had to sub for the day. It was so much fun, and I got a little taste of what it was like to be a teacher. This job is what made my mind up to be a teacher, and it made me want to teach second grade. It was by far my favorite age that I have had experience in.
I think I am headed in a good direction, and into a career that I will really love and enjoy. I'm excited to start my field hours this week, and take what I learn in this class and apply it to my classroom time.
